Supporting the striking writers of the WGA

On November 13th, this blog and the blogs listed below will be on strike for the day in solidarity with the Writers Guild of America. As fellow writers and as TV fans, we are coming together to express our strong support for the writers and their goals. We believe that when a writer's work makes money for a company, that writer deserves to be paid.

Update to Famous Findlayians

I just updated my "Famous Findlayians" page on my website. That is where I list some collected info on famous people who either were born, lived, or worked in my hometown Findlay, Ohio. A couple of web visitors pointed out a few more people I failed to mention in the first edition. People like C.J. "Pappy" Hart who was one of the "fathers" of the sport of Drag racing and Howard T. Ricketts, who helped isolate the bacteria that causes Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I also tweaked some of the photos I included on the page and updated some of the text.

Thank You Kevin Smith

Life led me in another direction and while I continued to write my short stories and enjoy watching films and the process of filmmaking, I didn't think I would get the bug again. That was until I met director Kevin Smith - again.

New blog about the Secular Left

Once again, proving I have no active social life, I have spent my holiday weekend creating another project where I can rant. It all started when someone posted an article about a term called "Secular Left" that conservatives and the religious right are now using in their name calling program for those who disagree with them.

September 11 revisited: an essay

In my spare time I write. I have done it for many years and it is a way for me to rant and work out issues I have in my thick skull. Most of the time I write short stories but I also like to write essays on various topics. On September 16th, 2001, still in shock from the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, I wrote an essay as a Humanist repsonse to the incident.

Why I can't vote for President George W. Bush

I have decided that my vote will NOT go to George Bush. I will not vote for him and I am encouraging others not to vote for him. Of course one could say I am a just a liberal elitist who hates America, but I am not either of those things. In fact, my vote for the other candidate this year is not because Bush is a Republican. I am not voting for him because I love my country and I feel Bush's administration is the one that is at odds with what America is all about.

The Bell Curve: Science or Political Statement?

This essay was the result of a discussion I was having on an e-mail list in which I participate called Human_ism back, in 2000. The person I was debating about The Bell Curve accused me of not reading the book as we debated the merits of it. I had not read the book. I came to my views about it from articles I read about the book. So, to take that argument away from my opponent, I bought the book (ugh) and read it (My eyes! My eyes).

Reason behind this Blog

Some may wonder why I started this Blog. Well, it is because I got pissed at the antics of two people who were elected to serve the residents of Hancock County, my home county.
