Ellen DeGeneres is in a dog fight

Sometimes one has to take a break and look at something that looks sad and funny at the same time.

Recently talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia de Rossi adopted a small dog from the animal rescue organization “Mutts and Moms”.

It seems that the dog didn’t get along with Ellen and Portia’s cats so Ellen gave the dog to her hairstylist. When “Mutts and Moms” stopped by to check on the dog and found out that DeGeneres gave the dog away, they went to the hairstylist and took the dog back. They claim that DeGeneres violated the terms of the adoption when she didn’t tell them she had given the dog away.

Yes, an animal rescue group took back an adopted dog because they weren’t consulted when it was given to another family.

Ellen used her show to talk about the issue and ask that the dog be given back to the family.

As if in a political fight “Mutts and Moms” fired back:

Mutts and Moms owners Marina Batkis and Vanessa Chekroun were in possession of the dog and will not be giving it back, attorney Keith A. Fink told The Associated Press.

“She (Marina) is not going to give them the dog,” said Fink, who is not legally representing the owners but is authorized to speak on their behalf.

“She doesn’t think this is the type of family that should have the dog. She is adamant that she is not going to be bullied around by the Ellen DeGenereses of the world … They are using their power, position and wealth to try to get what it is they want.”

“If you adopt a dog and you no longer want the dog, you can’t unilaterally decide who you want to give the dog to,” he said. “She’s trying to tell a story to make herself look good.”

Agency wants to keep DeGeneres’ dog

Wow!

I hadn’t realized that adopting out animals had become as complicated as adopting children. I commend “Mutts and Moms” for wanting quality homes for the animals they place but they seemed to go over the line by taking back the dog then throwing a fit about it.

It isn’t like Ellen put the dog in a bag and dumped it along a road some where.

I think “Mutts and Moms” need a little perspective.

Diane Lane Tribute Page

Or “What I did during my Labor Day off work”

diane005 (68K)To prove once again, how pale and friendless I am, I finally finished my long awaited tribute page to actor Diane Lane.

I have enjoyed her film career since her debut in 1979 in “A Little Romance” and I have never seen her give a bad performance.

Not knowing anything about her private personal life, I think we would get along great as friends.

So enjoy:

Good Luck Katie

On Tuesday, September 5th, Katie Couric will begin as a sole anchor of the CBS Evening News.

Couric spent 15 years on the fluff news show “Today” on NBC so some have complained that she won’t succeed on a “hard” news show. Some have said she wouldn’t because of being on “Today” while others say it because she is a woman – they still think a woman can’t deliver the news.

Yes, the Today show is mostly fluff but when there was hard news to cover Couric did well. I remember watching her on Today during the beginning of the 9/11 attacks. I think she know when to be serious and when to be light. Besides Tom Brokaw, the former anchor of NBC news, worked for several years on Today in the late 70’s and he did okay moving to the anchor chair.

The critics says she hasn’t had enough hard news experience. My view is she is just reading the news – she doesn’t have to find it. That is what the staff does. She paid her dues as a local reporter and as a correspondent.

As to those who complain that she won’t do a good job because she is a woman – all I have to say is look at Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. They have a large number of women anchors of their various newscasts and no seems to complain about them. Couric will be doing the same thing those women do only she will be on CBS.

The only thing I hope Couric does do different is not throw softballs at anyone she interviews like a political leader.

Other than that I wish her good luck. I know I will watch at least once.

Tara Blaise: Another singer to gush over.

Tara Blaise
Ok, I am going to gush again about a female singer who melted my heart once again with a siren’s voice. I don’t know what it is about the female voice that turns me into goo. I am also pissed that my new discovery is from Ireland which means I will have to work extra hard to see and hear her music.

My newest discovery is Tara Blaise. As I said she hails from Ireland. She sang on the record made my The Corr’s manager John Hughes titled “Wild Ocean” and he signed her to his record label.

Her debut album, “Dancing On Tables Barefoot”, came out July 4th in the UK and Ireland and her first single “Paperback Cliche'” is the 2nd most played single in Ireland (U2 is 1st).

Her style is popish with lush strings and a full band – my favorite.

Of course she is not bad on the eyes either.
