I wonder if the recent shocking statements by Rep. Todd Akin, the Republican nominee for Senate in Missouri and locally Doug Preisse, chairman of the Republican Party in Franklin County, where I live might mean that Republicans have a problem with alcohol. People who have a drinking problem tend to have no inhibition and will say what is really on their mind even if a sober person would check up because they know it would sound crazy to say that stuff out loud. It makes me wonder.
‘Has President Obama Earned Your Vote?’ Ad Missing Something
Americans for Prosperity started airing a new ad against President Obama that had three people identified has having voted for the President in 2008 and who now talk about not voting for his re-election 2012. One actual fact slips out from the talking heads but the ad is missing something important. Can you guess what is missing?
Yet Another False GOP Talking Point: The Affordable Care Act Is A Tax
Many people, including myself, were shocked when the US Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. The decision was based on the grounds that it fell under the taxing authority of Congress. Republicans and other Conservatives lost their mind screaming like little children about a TAX!!!!! OMFG A TAX!!!! Well like a majority of GOP talking points this too is false and shows they really have no idea how insurance works.
The penalty, which would only affect less than 1%, that people would pay for not buying health insurance is more like the fine you pay if you get a speeding ticket. No rational person would claim that the fine from a traffic ticket is a tax.
Who To Vote For? The Answer Is Clear Even Six Months Out
It’s six months before the 2012 Presidential election here in the US. Six months of droning pundits, rallies, and millions of dollars spent on advertising. For me it is all a waste of time and effort. I’m ready to vote now – the person to vote for is obvious because I sure don’t want to go back to the dark days of President George W Bush economic policies.
If you listen to the mainstream media you would think that 2001-2008 didn’t happen. That was the eight years we had President George W Bush in office. Remember the 2008 election when President Obama won. If Bush’s policies had been so great then why did Obama win by such a large margin. He got 10 million more votes than John McCain in one of the largest turn outs in decades.
Access To Health Care Is Like Driving A Car Or Owning A Cell Phone ???
If you agree with Jesse Kelly, the Republican nominee in Arizona’s 8th congressional district, that access to health care should be treated like being allowed to drive a car or own a cell phone then we are in some serious trouble in this country. Health care should be a right and not subject to the whims and bias of people who live in a bubble of their own existence.
